Cantine Maschio

Maschio begins with a choice selection of Prosecco grapes.

Producing quality Prosecco begins in the vineyard with the planting of vines in fields with maximum sun exposure.

Winter pruning must follow tradition, conducted by expert hands to allow every vine to produce the ideal grapes for its age and strength.

In spring, training of vines and leaf-stripping ensure ventilation and exposure to the sun to achieve optimal grape maturation.

The grapes are softly pressed to maintain their natural characteristics.

Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel is followed by secondary fermentation in autoclaves (the Charmat method).

In order to achieve the highest quality, a period of storage at low temperature is followed by careful filtration to maintain natural fruit flavors.

Chief Winemaker Vanni Lusetti was born on February 14th 1957 in the fertile land of the Emilia region (Italy’s capital for fine food and thriving agriculture).

His strong links with this fertile land and its products (grapes and wine in particular) were soon evident and he decided to pursue his passion and move to Conegliano in Veneto (the land of Prosecco) where he continued his studies and earned his degree in Winemaking at the famous and prestigious school of Conegliano Veneto.

During his tenure as winemaker, he continued his studies in winemaking and winegrowing and also pursued an education in marketing and international business.

His career as winemaker started in the late ‘70s with Cantine Riunite and in a few short years, thanks to the level of passion for his job and his hard work and dedication, he soon reached the top level of the organization attaining the position of Chief Winemaker. In 2003 Mr. Lusetti was appointed to General Manager of the Riunite group while maintaining his position as the head of the winemakers’ staff. In the meantime Cantine Maschio became part of the Riunite group and, in a return to his youth,  Mr. Lusetti began dedicating his efforts and experience to Prosecco and to the Conegliano area where he had studied and began his winemaking experience.

More than just a job, winemaking has always been a passion for Vanni and after many years he still has the same enthusiasm and devotion. His purpose is to make and sell wines which are approachable and pleasant. Ones which people can enjoy at any occasion, with a wide variety of foods or just on their own. Lambrusco and Prosecco, with their soft and pleasant frizzante style are perfect for this mission!
